About Max Holloway:

Max Holloway has been playing Jazz Saxophone since 2005, receiving tuition from esteemed Bebop Jazz Saxophone player Simon Savage.

In the past he has played a medley of instruments, starting with the piano aged 7, then swiftly onto the clarinet where he developed his passion for playing Jazz music. His love affair with the sound of the tenor saxophone exploded after listening to the smooth jazz sounds of Stan Getz and the racing solos of the great John Coltrane. Leading him to pick up the tenor saxophone aged 16.

He continued to practice the Jazz Saxophone daily, absorbing as much Jazz Saxophone knowledge as he could from all Jazz sources, including many books on Jazz improvisation.

At college he formed a blues band The BTEX which toured Sussex and Eastbourne in summer 2007.

Max Holloway is now at UCL in London where he performs Jazz with the UCLU Jazz Society groups at various functions, and plays first tenor in the big band. He also plays dinner Jazz with other Jazz musicians in London, most recently playing at a roof party in Putney with pianist Steve Markofsky.
